They come out of the gate like gangbusters, playing their soul driven funky blues rock. The liberal use of horns is somewhat distracting, but not overly so. The problem is, the album slowly and progressively disintegrates, devolving into slow and boring soul ballads that thoroughly tried my patience. I kept wondering what they found so unfulfilling about the more uptempo and energetic stuff that they opened the album with.
