Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony for orchestra, voices and choir is one of the most representative and celebratory musical masterpieces of the great classical repertoire, a real monument of music of all times, an absolute masterpiece that immediately appeared as a revolutionary work . Perhaps the best known of all Beethoven’s compositions, it was composed in 1823 and is considered to be his testament. The last movement of the symphony, the “Hymn to Joy” has become, with the great symbolic value of the text by Friedrich Schiller and with its prodigious musical vivacity, an ode to life, brotherhood and solidarity between the European peoples.
