Pour son 17ème album en tant que leader, Jean-Luc “Oboman” Fillon a ici réuni un quintet autour d’arrangements originaux et personnels de la musique des compositeurs des Jazz Messengers d’ART Blakey (Wayne Shorter, Bobby Timmons, Freddie Hubbard, Cedar Walton).
Le choix des musiciens de ce quintet a été mûrement réfléchi. Jean-Luc a eu maintes fois l’occasion de collaborer avec ces musiciens à la fois talentueux, généreux et joviaux. Jean-Luc avait enregistré les albums On the Reed… Again! avec Bruno Rousselet et Karl Jannuska en 2009, Chick to Chick en 2013 avec Olivier Hutman et Oboman Plays Cole Porter avec Frédéric Eymard en 2014.
