On this Album, the well-known Kika presenter painted Arkona as an “orchestra detective” to a young audience. In a radio play with the NDR Radiophilharmonie from Hanover, he undertook one of the most famous works of classical music: the Fifth Symphony by Ludwig van Beethoven. In an original way, children between the ages of 7 and 11 are introduced to a composer and a large orchestral work. Because – what is the secret behind this composition, which is known all over the world? Malte has a theory of his own – and above all a serious suspicion that needs to be proved.
In her story, author Susanne Grünig sets imaginative and child-friendly anchor points in order to make it easier for children to recognize musical motifs and passages. In the radio play ” Beethoven on the trail!”Malte Arkona helps the Young Investigator Lucia, violinist in the school orchestra.
Ludwig van Beethoven’s 5th Symphony has recently played an important role in the Repertoire of the NDR Radiophilharmonie; not only did the orchestra make its debut with this work in 2019 at the traditional “Beethoven Night” of the BBC Proms at London’s Royal Albert Hall; the recording, which was released in January 2020 under the direction of chief conductor Andrew Manze, was also enthusiastically received (for example, it was on the quarterly best list of the German record Critics ‘ Prize). This recording is also “on the track of Beethoven!”and can be heard completely on the second Album of the double album.
