Saxophonist John Pål Inderberg (b. 1950) and bassist Bjørn Alterhaug (b. 1945) are among the most respected jazz musicians in Norway. During more than 50 years of collaboration in different combinations the idea came on making a duo-album.About the recording in Alterhaug and Inderbergs own words: “The impulse to make a studio recording featuring only double bass and baritone saxophone came to us after many years of collaboration involving a variety of performers and settings. Our repertoire is wide-ranging and varied, but performing as a duo could, we thought, offer some challenges in relation to the adaptation and arrangement of the numbers we chose. The choice of studio was an easy matter, as our Brasilian friend – collaborator, multi-instrumentalist and sound engineer Celio Barros – had built a modern sound studio in Haltdalen, near Røros.”
