On the occasion of the 400. On the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the death of Michael Praetorius, the Ensemble La Protezione della Musica has compiled a selection of vocal and organ compositions that are quite representative of Praetorius’ oeuvre.
The ensemble presents works from Polyhymnia caduceatrix et panegyrica as well as Musae Sioniae around the main title “A strong castle is our God”. The recording was made in the Church of St. Mary in Lemgo in order to use the Scherer organ from 1613-along with corresponding instruments from that time, which enrich the vocal sounds of La Protezione della Musica.
