Rikas were founded in 2016 in Stuttgart. Music has always been done by the four gold-throats and heartbreakers. They have known each other since childhood, playing in the school band at the age of 13, 14, and then on the streets of their hometown. After leaving school, I started walking: two summers criss-crossing Europe. Zurich, Milan, Nice, London, Paris. With songs by Roy Orbison, Tom Petty and the Beatles in their luggage and a sign on the guitar case: “Schlafplatz gesucht!” A thrilling experience for the band. Her music came straight to her, the reactions even more urgent. The glow in the eyes of the people in front of them, the twitching in their legs … Since then they are addicted to it.
Entertainment is very important to Rikas. Sombreros? Sailor costumes? Boyband choreography? It’s clear! The four are open to everything that is fun. And they know how narrow the line between coolness and ridiculousness is. But that’s what it’s all аbout: the dance on the cutting edge, as perfect and stylish as possible, preferably with somersault and pirouette.
Such casual soul pop has not been heard from Germany for a long time. Make the difficult sound easy. The songs of Rikas make an evening without a plan, a film without a plot in the blink of an eye to something unforgettable. Melodies like Stevie Wonder, the pop-drive of Phoenix, the self-mockery of a Jarvis Cocker. With so much sovereignty that you wonder, where the hell did the guys have that – even before their debut album?
