“In preparing these hi def remasters, we were very conscientious about maintaining the feel of the original releases while adding a previously unattainable transparency and depth. It now sounds like you’ve set up your chaise lounge right in the middle of Rudy Van Gelder’s studio!” – Blue Note President, Don Was.

Unit Structures is the first of two Blue Note albums by pianist Cecil Taylor (the companion album, “Conquistador!” is also available from HDTracks.com). Taylor began experimenting throughout the 50s and 60s, his music became more complex and developed in a way that was different then other jazz forms of the time. The album opened up new possibilities in the realm of jazz, allowing musicians to develop unique forms of musical exchange. The unusual septet voicing includes two bass players.
