Actually, he is called Benjamin Duterde and is France’s most successful ‘Retro Soul’ star. His role models include Ray Charles, Sam Cooke, Donny Hathaway and Marvin Gaye. His songs swinging between classic Motown and current influences have earned him chart success and critical acclaim, his title ‘Petite sœur’ even became a TV jingle of a well-known chocolate bar.

Real artists make that they dare something. So did Ben l’Oncle Soul, who had been around for a long time with the idea of paying homage to a musical greatness not previously associated with his name: Frank Sinatra. Big shoes? As a matter of fact. But is Ben ‘Oncle Soul holding back from a good idea? Not a bit.
And so Ben ‘Oncle Soul – in the style of’ Ol ‘Blue Eyes’ himself – took to the hat and embarked on a bold project in which soul, blues, reggae, jazz and evergreen evergreens meet in amazingly harmonious coexistence. The French Soulman bows deeply to Sinatra, but does not freeze in awe. On the contrary: in collaboration with Matthieu Joly (from the band Neïmo) and Benjamin Hekimian (from the band Naosol & Waxx) he gives the often heard songs new, carefree charm and groove. Who knows, Sinatra might like that…
